Anatomy of the Brain Study Module 

This is an online study module that is professionally done.  Students studying the biological basis of behavior will find this module quite useful.

Brick Illusion Game  

A brightness illusion determined by perceptual interpretation.  This

procedure allows researchers to measure the uncertainty of judgments on relative surface brightness in illusory conditions.

See how classical conditioning works.  This demonstration lets you control the behavior of the dog.

This tutorial demonstrates how culture influences many aspects of language development.

Stroop Effect

Try this activity and see if you can explain the Stroop Effect!  When you get to the website, click on the word "experiment" to start theSign with words of color printed in different ink.  Yellow is printed in green; red is printed in blue; blue is printed in yellow; green is printed in red activity.  The developers have quite a good sense of humor.  

You may want to try the Stroop demonstration developed by the University of Waterloo; it is more like the original classic study.  An extensive discussion about explanations for the Stroop are there too.  Click on the black Stroop graphic and you'll go there.

Visual Illusion Works

This website has many visual illusions.  It is amazing the number of demonstrations available and the illusions created.  Try it! 

 

Zimbardo's Famous Prison Study

There is a lot of great graphics and you can watch a video of his prison experiment in the basement of the Psychology Building.  College students, knowing they were in a study, were assigned to be either guards or prisoners.  The results were amazing.  This study also was done prior to APA "ethical guidelines" and raised eyebrows!
